A supervised program of instruction on the fundamentals of Little League baseball. Participants are taught basic baseball skills such as hitting, throwing, catching and base running. Games and team practices are held throughout the season.
On Monday, April 27th, The Kirkland Tap & Trotter restaurant will be donating 10% of all sales back to the Somerville Little League! This Somerville restaurant - which also happens to be one of our team sponsors this season - is James Beard award-winning Chef Tony Maws’ inviting and highly praised neighborhood joint. It's kid-friendly, too, so bring the entire family for a fun (and delicious) night out, while supporting the Somerville Little League! And don't forget to tell your friends!
Kirkland is open from 5:30-10pm (and kids under 8 eat free until 6:30!). You're welcome to come anytime that evening, have a great meal (and a drink or two), and meet some fellow families, friends, and supporters just in time for the start of the season - while supporting your neighborhood Little League!
Farm league teams are being put together this coming week. We anticipate you'll hear from a coach sometime in the next couple of weeks. Farm League practices and games begin in late April or early May. Your coach will determine when team practices occur. Games and practices can be viewed on your team page on our site (somervillelittleleague.org) once your player is assigned to a team. All your player needs is a glove and baseball pants (grey color preferable). We'll supply all other equipment, hat, shirt and socks. We may reach out to certain Farm teams asking for coaching help if we don't have a coach for that team. If you feel like you can help out please respond to this email.
T-ball begins Saturday May 2nd, 9 - 10:30 am at Conway Park on Somerville Ave, and will run for 7 consecutive Saturdays. All your player needs is a glove. We'll supply all other equipment, hat, shirt, and socks. Any parent or other adult who wants to help with T-ball please respond to this email. We can always use the help!
Opening day for our older players is Saturday April 25th. Come on down to Conway Park on Saturday morning to see a celebrity player throw out the first pitch and watch our older players compete on the diamond.
To ensure the season is a successful one we need volunteers! We need people to help run the concession stand, coordinate picture day, and most importantly help coach teams. We're always in need of coaches - especially at our Farm and T-ball levels. We can't form teams without coaches. Please consider volunteering this season. Round up some friends and coach a team together to make it more manageable and fun.
If you want to volunteer - first off, thank you! Second, please attend a volunteer meeting this comingWednesday March 18th at 7 pm. The meeting will be held at the 2nd floor meeting room of the Stop & Shop on McGrath Hwy. Please fill out the volunteer form on our documents page and bring it to the meeting along with a copy of your drivers license
